Worked under the guidance of eBay’s team to reimagine what the future of marketplaces will look like in the context of Blockchain, NFTs and Web3

Problem
‍

eBay is not satisfied with the current marketplace, there is only 6% of sellers are Gen Z on eBay. And eBay wants to be at the forefront of web3, and they think the current web 3 is not adoptable for most of us.

Solution

We created eBay marketplace beta, a mobile APP that improve the physical and digital shopping experience, which helps bring eBay to be at the forefront of web 3.

We did a lot of research to understand what is DAOs, Web 3, and Crypto. NFT, DeFi... And organize and analyze all the data we have to reimagine the future marketplace in the context of them.

PRIMARY RESEARCH

We created 2 surveys to understand Gen Z’s opinion toward Web 3 and NFT

To start with our primary research, we conducted 2 surveys. This survey was designed to get both quantitative and qualitative data.

Our surveys recorded responses from a total of 156 participants across various nationalities, demographics, & backgrounds.

Based on the insights we had, we develop more than 50 concepts for eBay that can eliminate the fear and optimize the Web 3 experience.Finally, we got 5 ideas after the heuristic evaluation workshop.

We invited 25 participants to test each of our user flows. We have different tasks and questions for different flows and keep iterating our prototype and flow based on this valuable feedback.

From our research, we decided these four keywords represented both eBay's Target customer base and aspects of web 3 which felt held value, our mission is that we want eBay to be at the forefront of web3. We will achieve this by preparing the mobile app for a community-based phygital experience and using web3 technology embedded through the everyday mobile device.
